On Saturday, 1/13/18, the Berlin Fire Department, Company 3, held their annual holiday party / awards night at the Farmington Club. It was also the kick-off of the Department's 75th anniversary.
The Firefighter of the Year was awarded to past Chief James Simons. The Ed Haber award was presented to Allan Pipkin. Past Chief James Simons was presented a Life Saving Commendation. Retiring Kensington Fire Chief Mark Lewandowski was presented with a plaque from the BFD. Thomas Chesery, Matt Odishoo and Allan Pipken were recognized for their many years of service with the fire department as they step down from active duty. Melissa Byron, Taylor Smolicz and Jordan Temple were recognized for completing Fire 1 training in 2017. Years in Service plaques were presented to: Chief Richard Scalora - 30 years Asst. Chief Richard Cop - 30 years John Sorrentino - 20 years Capt. David Pethigal - 15 years Sergio DiMauro - 15 years Joseph LaVallee Jr. - 15 years Lt. Christopher Sargis - 10 years The top responders in the department were recognized. |
