Arriving fire officers were met by the residents in front of the home and an active fire was found involving contents in the garage. The fire was knocked down using a portable water can, arriving firefighters removed the burning contents and extinguished remaining hot spots. There were two occupants home at the time of the fire, one resident experienced symptoms of smoke inhalation and was evaluated by EMS and released on scene. No pets were in the home and there were no injuries to firefighters. The home sustained minor structural damage and there was no displacement to the residents. The Berlin Fire Marshals Office investigated, it was determined a large capacity snowblower battery attached to charger started the fire.
