Car 42 arrived to find fire showing from the engine compartment and cab of a garbage truck. Crews from Rescue 1, Squad 4, and Engine 8 worked to quickly extinguish the fire. Companies cleared a short time later turning the scene over to DEEP as they were handling any environmental issues that may have occurred in the course of the fire.

While companies were operating at the fire Car 12 engine 2, and utility 5 handled a motorcycle accident on the northbound side of route 9 in the area of exit 21.
