On April 9, 2023 at 7:35am the Town of Berlin Fire Departments were dispatched to the 1500 block of Kensington Rd for a structure fire, fire on the back deck. Upon arrival of the first fire units, heavy fire from the rear of the garage and garage area. Three hose lines were stretched for extinguishment. While crews were working to extinguish the fire, other crews searched the residence. All residences were out of the structure. The fire was extinguished, and the fire area overhauled. Due to limited water in this area of town, Tankers were requested to the scene from Southington Fire Department and Westfield Fire Department (Middletown). Tanker 15, Southington Tanker 2 and Westfield Tanker 4 set up 2 portable ponds (6500 gallons of water total) and began a water shuttle operation. An Engine from Newington Fire Department provided coverage for the Town of Berlin. Crews were on scene for approximately 3 hours. The scene was turned over to the Town of Berlin Fire Marshals Office for investigation.
