Monday night at our monthly meeting we began the start of a new milestone. Chief Simons informed the membership that 2016 will be is last year as Chief of the Berlin Fire Department. For the first time in 24 years starting in 2017 we will have a new leader. The process is in motion to name the next Chief.

Chief Simons began his career with the Berlin Fire Department 37 years ago, 13 years later he became the Chief of the department and has brought us to where we are today. He is quoted as saying "it is time, it is time for a new leader". He is not leaving us completely as he will remain an active firefighter with the company.

Chief we thank you and congratulate you for your years of service, your dedication, leadership, hard work, and the compassion you've shown not only to us as members but the people we serve everyday.
